Self Motivation, Your Key to Success

Selasa, 29 Desember 2009

Motivation is defined as the intention of achieving a goal, leading to goal-directed behaviour. It drives us towards achievement our goals, give us a reason to do things that is required to reach our goal. There are two kinds of motivation, outside and self motivation.

Outside motivation are motivation from an inspiring book, a story about courage, nature and even a child. You could be motivated after hearing a speech from an inspirational speaker or you might want to do something for the community when you heard a heartwarming story. Sometimes, it is through outside motivation that made us think about our life and our achievements. Outside motivation gives you hope and remind you that it is possible to be successful and be happy.

There is no stronger motivation then self motivation. People can tell you all kinds of inspiring stories, advice and encouragement but if we have no desire to change, it can't motivate us. Self motivation requires us to look within ourselves to find the reason to drive us towards our goal. We accept and acknowledge what is lacking in our life and make it our goal to change ourselves. Self motivation requires a lot of perseverance and belief. In self motivation, we tell ourselves what we want to do; nobody and nothing can otherwise spur us to action. We are in charge of our actions and emotions.

Outside motivation could be the first step in helping us identify our goals. It gives us hope and sometimes provides us with the guidelines towards achieving our goals. However, as this is other people's experience, we might get side tracked or find it difficult to follow. Of course, we can be de motivated too by our own self motivation. However, as it comes from within us and we mastermind the process; self motivation is a stronger and more secure way to help us achieved our goals.

In our learning curve towards personal success, achievements and happiness, we often meet people who have inspired, motivate and encourage us. Join Jennifer Lim as she shares her experience and articles on motivation and self improvement in Learning Curve

2 Highly Effective Self-motivation Tools

Since self- motivation is dependent on one's own determination and inner change, it also lasts much longer than being motivated by others. You can take someone as your role model and get motivated looking at his or her achievements. But when, for any reason, that person falls of the pedestal, you also end up losing your motivation. Thus self- motivation is the best form of motivation that there is possible.

We tend to not get motivated if we are not sure of the credentials of the person motivating us. We also want to see the actual proof that they have shown in their life. However, when that person fails at any moment in their life, we lose our motivation as well. On the other hand, somewhere inside us, we trust our potential. So we can hardly ever lose this self- motivation, except when we are mind-wiped.

Let us suggest some tools that can come into use for self-motivation.
1. Writing - One of the best tools for self- motivation is writing. When we write, we pour out our thoughts, emotions and intent on paper. So we can also learn about what pushes us to do better. Through this tool, you can also understand in great depth, what the reasons for your doing certain things are.

Your diary is the ideal example of writing being used for self- motivation. If diaries were only written to express yourself, this expression could just as easily be done by talking to a rock. Thus, it can easily be proved that diaries and journals help us get the motivation that is required to live by careful introspection of their thoughts and actions.

In fact, you can use writing as a means of motivating yourself. Whenever you write a reminder to yourself, that is a means of self- motivation. There are so many people across the world who write encouraging and motivation messages to themselves. All the posters carrying self- motivational messages put up on your office and room walls also serve the same purpose.

2. Picture - Another self-motivation tool can also be found in images. People often get motivated looking at certain pictures. The best example of a picture that leads to self- motivation is that showing the three monkeys which brings across the message of "Hear no evil, Speak no evil, See no evil." Some people in fact put pictures of famous and successful people to look upto them as a role model. If there is a picture that conveys a deep message, it can actually lead people to attain self-motivation.

Thus writing and pictures are the tools used extensively foe self-motivation by people all across the world. They give people the much-needed boost to go on ahead in life.

A Self Motivation Strategy For Anxiety Relief

Rabu, 11 Februari 2009

When seeking to motivate yourself towards anxiety relief, look no farther than your kitchen table. Sound odd? Actually, you'll need to add a pen, notepad and a chair. What you will do is write down all the things you have accomplished, either in your youth, as a teen, as an adult or just last week.

It might help if you can pull out your school records or your old resumes to see where you excelled.

How is this going to motivate you towards anxiety relief?

Lost confidence is a major component of anxiety disorder. That loss affects you in a number of ways. It destroys your self esteem and sense of worth. It triggers doubts and depression. And it can cause you to lose control of your life. This happens because your anxiety has you stuck in a cycle of fear and panic. Your fear paralyses you to the point you can no longer complete tasks that, prior to your anxiety disorder, were never given a second thought.

Before you can enjoy anxiety relief, you have to rebuild your confidence. It will be tough while your anxiety is still active, but it will help you.

When you have completed your list, write down ways you can use those talents now. Don't worry whether or not your ideas make sense. Let your mind revel in the fantasy. Allow yourself to become completely absorbed in your ideas. Don't be logical; be creative.

In case you are not the type to indulge in daydreaming, here's an example.

Let's say your strength is photography. You thoroughly enjoyed it, received high praise for your work, and perhaps got high marks for it in school. Somewhere along the way, you put your camera down and only use it now during special occasions.

Take that skill and turn on the creativity. How can you use your photography skills now? You could: take one subject (let's say, clowns) and photograph every clown you see. Go through catalogues, newspapers, magazines, and online. Put together your best and submit them to one of the stock photo agencies. You could offer to take photos as a volunteer at a local non-profit group or for a sports team. If you also enjoy gardening or looking at gardens, offer to take photos for your local horticultural society.

There are many ways to utilize your skills, either as a photographer or simply as a person with some great creative ideas.

Now, you're probably wondering what all this has to do with anxiety relief and getting motivated.

By allowing yourself to free up your hidden talents and creative mind, you encourage the rebuilding of your confidence. Where confidence exists, anxiety doesn't. This exercise puts you in control of one aspect of our life - your mind. No longer is it left under the control of your anxiety.

The more you indulge yourself in this activity, the less time you will have to think about your anxiety and the fear that goes with it. Continue this exercise every day, take action on your ideas and most importantly, have fun with it. You will soon see that by being self motivated, you can achieve anxiety relief.

Now that you have seen that you can control your thoughts, it's time to find the right natural anxiety remedy for you. Discover how to do that at Natural Anxiety Remedies where you can read product reviews and more tips to help cure your anxiety. Self Motivation Secrets

We all have a lack of self motivation at times. We can learn a hundred ways to improve our lives, but then hesitate to act. Something less important catches our attention, or we just don't feel like doing what we need to do. Even a person who is normally highly motivated can sometimes have a hard time getting started on an important task.

Is there a solution? There are probably dozens of them. Below are six of the best self motivation techniques that consistently work when used. Try them all, but if you find even one or two here that work for you, you'll be on your way.

Self Motivation Techniques That Work

1. Talk to get motivated. One of my favorite ways to create energy and motivation is to talk. Once I tell my wife about the article I'm going to write, I'm out of my slump and back at the keyboard. For less inspiring tasks, talk about the larger goals it will help you achieve.

2. Stimulate your desire. Seeing their potential future motivates many to sign up for get-rich-quick plans. The really good salesmen can put you in your imagined dream home in minutes, and make you feel motivated to do anything to make it real. Learn to be your own salesman.

3. Stimulate your pain. One Neuro-Linguistic Programming technique is to mentally link pain with not acting. It is like when finally stop hitting that snooze button on the alarm, and get up because you think you might lose your job. Just imagine any bad consequences that may occur if you don't do what you need to do.

4. Find a true interest. If you have no interest in what you are doing, it might mean you need to do something else. If it's just a task you dislike, but it needs to be done, relate it clearly in your mind to the greater goal. I don't like to drive, but I don't have a motivation problem when I'm driving to the mountains for a vacation.

5. Boost your energy. You need energy for self motivation. Coffee may help for a while, if caffeine doesn't create other problems for you. Exercising and sleeping well help too. Yo should also watch out for sugary foods. The "sugar blues"kill motivation. Once you find energy boosters that work for you, make a list and keep it handy for future use.

6. Take any small step. I've found if I commit to raking up one bag of leaves, I soon want to finish all the yard work. Taking any small step towards your goals is a great self motivation technique. To make this even easier, break larger goals down into small steps.

Motivation techniques really do work, but don't ask me how to get motivated to use them. In any case, you were motivated enough to read this far, so you'll be fine. Oh, and humor is number seven. A good laugh can overcome that feeling of being overwhelmed that sucks away self motivation.

Self Motivation At Work Place

Senin, 05 Januari 2009

Booker T. Washington once said, "I have learned that success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles overcome, while trying to succeed." The reason why you want to do something is MOTIVATION. It is an eagerness and willingness to do something without needing to be told or forced to do it." It encourages, inspires and develops a sense of Pride, Better Outlook and Build's Self Esteem which is critical to the productivity at workplace.

According to Dr. Shilpa Moonot - Clinical Neuro Rehabilitation (London), "To build a high Motivation within yourself determine your greatest Motivator- Is it Money, Incentives, Bonus, Commission, Fame, Recognition which are External and Monetary benefits or Non-Financial Motivators like Pride, Sense of Achievement, Responsibility, Belief, Challenging and Interesting job, Respect which are Internal. The most powerful Motivation however comes from within, keep Smiling, be Enthusiastic, Cheerful and Considerate; it's Contagious she added; to boost your self-confidence think win-win and not lose-lose.

Sir Winston Churchill has rightly said, "Kite rise highest against the wind not with it." Failures and bouncing back are elements of Motivation. Failure is a Learning Tool that builds Confidence. People with high self-confidence typically have little fear of unknown, are able to stand up for what they believe in and have the courage to risk embracement. Sri Chinmoy, believes, "Your confidence-heart need not be the result of your yesterday's success. Your confidence-heart can easily be the result of your implicit faith in tomorrow's most beautiful dawn." A man with Motivation shall not lose; only doubt will bring defeat.

Dictionary is the only place where Success comes before Work. Hard Work is the Price we must pay for Success. We can accomplish anything if we are willing to pay the Price. If you're demotivated it shows in your work, the way you manage customers, superiors and subordinates, which creates an unproductive, inefficient and pessimist environment. Encourage an environment where everyone encourages everyone else. Develop Trust, Respect, Constructive Criticisms and an Open Channel of upward and downward Communication. Associate yourself with high motivators to be one.

Finally enjoy yourself and find areas of interest at your workplace. Have a clear short and long term goals. Be sober, kind, reliable and responsive; know exactly what's expected from you and always meet your deadlines. As Richard Bach said, "The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work." Finally remember the MOTIVATIONAL thoughts of Bessie Stanley on Success at Workplace,

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of junior;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by a

Healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed easier

Because you have lived.

This is to have succeeded.
